Should You Invest When Markets Are Volatile?
How to think about timing, drip-feeding contributions and staying invested when headlines are noisy.
Volatility is normal, not exceptional
Markets move sharply in both directions. What matters is whether your time horizon is long enough that short-term falls do not force you to sell.
Drip-feeding contributions
Investing a fixed amount each month removes the need to pick a moment. You buy fewer units when prices are high and more when they are low.
Decide your rules in advance
Write down your contribution level, your asset mix and the circumstances in which you would change them. Rules written calmly are easier to follow than decisions made during a sell-off.
